8 APRIL2026W MAN LEADERGLOBAL W MAN LEADERGLOBAL NEWS BITESIn an endeavor to strengthen the economic ties, Southeast Asian nations have received $10 billion worth of new support from the Japanese government, who have made this commitment in light of continuing instability in the Middle East that will affect Japan's ability to secure medical supplies derived from oil. Titled as `Power Asia' the initiative will provide 1.6 trillion yen to Southeast Asian countries in an effort to improve energy supply chains and allow them to acquire crude and petroleum product supplies more easily.Sanae Takaichi, Prime Minister of Japan announced this program in an online meeting she held with several Asean member states as part of a framework called the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) plus. She strongly denied any adverse effect on Japan's Domestic supply of oil owing to this new partnership. Addressing reporters in Tokyo, Sanae highlighted Japan's reliance on Asian countries for key medical items and equipments. She emphasized plans to work closely with regional partners developing robust energy, mineral, and supply chain systems for a stronger and more prosperous Asia. Taiwan's Labor Ministry is strengthening support for long-term unemployed women, introducing enhanced measures through revised programs and policies associated with the Women's Re-entry to Work program and its associated challenges. Under the revised programs and policies, there will be revisions regarding eligibility factors, incentives or grant amounts for each individual and employer support will lower some barriers/thresholds and increase the amount of the subsidy.Under latest revisions, the Women's Re-entry Program has relaxed its criteria, dropping the family-reason requirement and opening access to anyone who has been unemployed for 180 days or longer. As of September 2023, over 90,000 women have used the program and have been able to access personalized employment services, self-directed training, and receive re-employment incentives.
