W MAN LEADERGLOBAL W MAN LEADERGLOBAL 5 SEPTEMBER2026Editor's NoteIs the Hospitality Sector Truly Inclusive?Hospitality and travel have become major engines of the global economy, creating millions of jobs and connecting people, cultures, and businesses across borders. The sector has continued to demonstrate strong resilience and growth, with global Travel & Tourism contributing more than $11 trillion to the world economy in 2024 and supporting approximately 357 million jobs worldwide. As international travel, experiential tourism, and hospitality investments continue to expand, the industry is entering an exciting new phase of growth. But behind these impressive numbers lies an important question: is the sector growing equally for everyone?Women have always played a significant role across hospitality and tourism, representing a substantial share of the industry's workforce. Yet their presence at senior leadership, board, ownership, and decision-making levels remains considerably lower. Women continue to encounter barriers ranging from limited access to senior roles and leadership networks to workplace biases and challenges around career progression. The challenge is therefore not simply about increasing female participation in hospitality. It is about creating genuine pathways for women to advance, lead businesses, take ownership, and influence the direction of the industry. As the global hospitality sector evolves, inclusion must become an integral part of its growth story. Diverse leadership can bring new perspectives, encourage innovation, strengthen decision-making, and help hospitality businesses better understand an increasingly diverse global customer base.At Global Woman Leader magazine, we believe it is time to shine a well-deserved spotlight on the women who are breaking barriers, building successful hospitality businesses, creating opportunities, and redefining leadership across the global industry.Read the current edition of the magazine to know more.
