9 DECEMBER 2025W MAN LEADERGLOBAL W MAN LEADERGLOBAL NEWS BITESAs the 12th edition of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Middle East Regional Young Talents Programme, it honourarily recognised twelve Arab female scientists for their work in research to contribute towards regional Scientific Development.The L'Oréal-UNESCO programme has awarded AED 3.8 Million in Grants to support research activities since launching in 1998. Worldwide over 4700 Researchers have been recognised with grants across 140 plus countries.Of which 63 Researchers are from the GCC (Gulf Co-operation Council Countries). Through the continued support of the Middle East edition of the Programme; the gap between Scientific Excellence and supporting Women and Youth on Innovation and Development solutions for each country within GCC will continue reducing.However, Women only make up approximately 1/3 of all Researchers Globally, according to the most recent statistics by UNESCO.UAE Education Minister Sarah Al Amiri has praised this initiative as having a long-term perspective and as being one way to promote Science as a means of empowering Women.Laurent Duffier, Managing Director of L'Oreal Middle East, spoke about how this Program supports Arab Women Researchers to play an increased role in Innovation; he mentioned how the empowerment of Women through developing STEM skills will allow them to become the future Change Makers for the Lasting Change in Society.Salah Khaled the UNESCO Representative noted that UNESCO is dedicated to ensuring that Women have a Place within Science as part of their continuing commitment to Sustainable Development; he outlined some of the many benefits that have arisen from the Programme with regard to the advancement of Science both Regionally and Globally.His Excellency Badr Juma, Khalifa University President, declared his commitment to the Partnership with the Programme and specifically stated that Women Researchers at Khalifa University are developing Technological Solutions for some of the most significant Global Challenges, such as Energy, Health, Sustainability, Space and AI.The focus group of scientists that were recognized has contributed to the enhancement of several fields including aerospace robots, climate resilience, sustainable farming, chronic disease prevention, and ASPCA research.Their contributions are an example of the programme's mission, which is to support women in STEM that find new and innovative ways to have an impact on the world around them. · The L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Middle East program celebrated its 12th edition in Dubai· Twelve Arab women scientists were recognized for their contributions to the field of STEM· It is an initiative held in partnership with Khalifa University of Science and TechnologyL'OREAL-UNESCO PROGRAM CELEBRATES 12 ARAB WOMEN SCIENTISTS
