Gender equality has been recognized as a marker for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.Women's representation in leadership roles globally has seen gradual improvement over the past few decades. However, this growth is a relatively new phenomenon and still has a long way to go. Women have been striving hard to gain increased representation in the workforce and decision-making roles across the globe.The healthcare sector is no different. Although the number of women pursuing healthcare degrees has increased exponentially over the years along with the number of women foraying in entry level jobs in healthcare, yet their absence from top leadership roles is a cause for concern. Women surgeons are also in a minority as compared to their male counterparts.The business world will be a more prosperous place if women are supported to pursue leadership and decision-making roles.
