AI-powered solutions have now become an integral part of the legal profession enhancing service delivery and boosting operational efficiency. As law firms face mounting pressure to reduce costs and increase transparency, AI tools offer scalable solutions, from automated document drafting to legal research optimization, helping firms stay competitive and client-centric in a digital-first world. It ushers us towards a future where legal advice is not only faster but also more accessible.

Capitalizing on more than a decade’s experience in the legal industry and time spent at UiPath during its hypergrowth, which is Romania’s only unicorn listed on NYSE, Iulia Andritoiu Caizer's professional journey has taken her from providing public legal services to underrepresented individuals in the U.S. to work in top law firms and later in-house counsel in Romania. Currently as Co-Founder and CEO of QUICKLEGAL, she is focused on building digital legal solutions that are intuitive, scalable, and rooted in real-world’s needs. Iulia’s experience and judgement brings a rare mix of legal, policy, and tech acumen.

Take us through the formative years of your life and key influences that shaped your life’s trajectory.

Winning Romania’s National Debate Championship and also 3rd place at the Global Debate Championship in 2009 was a key moment for me that fuelled my passion for advocacy and law.

I realized my spark to use advocacy for meaningful change, leading me to pursue a law degree. Later, my curiosity for global legal frameworks, shaped my decision to seek international exposure.

My early years were immersed in Romania’s educational system. During my time at the College of Law from West University of Timisoara, I joined the Erasmus program in Italy, which enriched my legal studies through different lens. Later I pursued a master’s degree at Heidelberg University in Germany, an opportunity that initiated my legal foundation in American law and expanded my intercultural competence. Being the valedictorian of my class in Heidelberg led to being awarded a one-year exchange program with Georgia State University, Atlanta, U.S., where I’ve later pursued an LL.M in American Law at the College of Law.

While there are many leaders to whom I look up to, one who truly stood out to me recently is Marc Randolph, co-founder of Netflix. He said that for him success is building something that you are good at and enjoy doing.

Be inspired by others, but don’t imitate, build your own path

Take us through your professional journey that spans across Romania and USA.

My education across Romania, Italy, Germany, and the U.S. has given me the foundation that has been both enriching and eye-opening. Multiple legal systems and cultures made me aware of systemic gaps, especially when comparing Romania to other developed frameworks.

Based on my acumen, I focus on applying what I learnt abroad to build adaptable legal solutions that bring real value to people and businesses in emerging markets. My legal tech efforts started in Romania where I leveraged automation to make legal services more user-friendly and transparent.

What inspired you to cofound QUICKLEGAL? Tell us about the underlying idea and vision behind the venture?

I realized many legal hurdles and businesses do not always require a lawyer, just clarity and right digital tools. I saw the opportunity to create a product and bridge the gap that could make legal work part of daily business operations. QUICKLEGAL is Romania’s first platform of its kind, aiming initially to close the accessibility gap in between people in need of legal support and the legal professionals.

The idea of QUICKLEGAL was born during the first Global Legal Hackathon in Romania, and event that brought together legal and tech talent to co-create viable solutions. Now at QUICKLEGAL, we streamline debt recovery process through AI-powered automation, a solution backed by attorneys in a seamless virtual office.

How does QUICKLEGAL amalgamate technology and legal services? What forms the foundation of facilitating client success?

At QUICKLEGAL, we deliver a hybrid approach, leveraging automation alongside legal professionals to provide a reliable solution for debt recovery and legal support. We offer an AI-driven debt collection automation helping companies increase recovery rates while decreasing costs, backed by legal escalation to the attorneys registered on the platform

We have been successful in translating our expertise into a user-friendly tool that businesses can adopt without any expertise. We have continuously prioritized our clients’ success which means enabling businesses to recover outstanding debt quickly through the power of automation. Many have seen results in as little as 10-15 days, recovering debts up to 80 percent faster.

Looking back, which key professional milestones standout for you? What has been your guiding leadership philosophy?

Receiving the Leonie Wild Foundation Scholarship and Full Tuition Waiver to study at Heidelberg University was a turning point. It gave me the much-needed access to international legal education and opened doors to understanding global jurisdiction. This further lead to being awarded the Equal Justice America Fellowship in the U.S., a pivotal experience that broadened my understanding of U.S. law, gave deeper insights of a dynamic business environment, and ultimately shaped the international perspective I bring to my work.

Through the U.S. fellowship, I joined a legal aid NGO serving the underrepresented population.

For me leadership means blending purpose with adaptability.QUICKLEGAL was honoured as Romania’s Best Legal App, and was ranked in the top 10 at leading European startup competitions.
