Affirmative Action Leading Peru's Strides Towards a Gender Balanced Business Landscape

For any society to succeed, it’s pertinent that the entire population contributes their share bit. However, gender disparity in opportunities puts women at a disadvantage. Although women makeup almost half of the world’s population, yet their representation in leadership roles and the workforce is far from being equal to men.

Affirmative action is the only way forward. several nations are great examples of how implementation of legal reforms can bring about a boost in women’s labor force participation and financial inclusion. One such nation is Peru.

The South American nation implemented reforms in 1990s, which were geared towards Peruvian women’s right to work, access banking and financial services, and own and inherit assets. This move led to positive impact and improved women’s access to opportunities. While the nation is yet to reach complete equity, but great strides have been made.

In the current edition of GWL magazine we focus on women leaders from Peru and their impact on the nation’s economic landscape.

One such name is Claudia Talavera. Featured in an interaction, Claudia, the Managing Director of Experis Peru, which leads digital workforce solutions and innovation in the tech industry. A multifaceted business leader, Aurelia specialises in leading design and digital transformations at La Victorial Lab. Driven by a strong sense of purpose, Aurelia’s career spans across diverse industries including retail, logistics and education among others. An industrial engineer by qualification she also comes armed with an MBA degree from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

In this month’s magazine edition also read about Carla Vaccari, the CEO of Mangiare Seafood SAC with an educational background in Law. Later, she entered the field of seafood. She has also served in Industrias Pesqueras Frida Sophia as the organization manager for more than five years. Considering her academics, she has studied in University of Salamanca and University of San Martín de Porres.

These women are shining exemplars of Peru’s strides towards a gender balanced business landscape.
