Alison Kilburn Appointed Joint Head of Government Economic Service

Alison Kilburn has been appointed as the Joint Head of the Government Economic Service (GES), where she will serve alongside Professor Brian Bell in leading the UK government's professional body for economists. This is an another significant milestone in Alison‘s long and distinguished public service career, which has lasted over 30 years in a number of government departments.

Alison currently serves as Director of Analysis and Chief Economist at DSIT, where he has served for more than 30 years, and has held a variety of senior analytical, strategic and policy leadership roles within government. She has a broad range of experience, having previously served as Director of Analysis at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Interim Director of Analysis at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), and Head of Government Economic Service and Social Research Team at HM Treasury.

Alison will now be working closely with Professor Brian Bell as Joint Head of the Government Economic Service, building on the success of the profession in government, and sustaining the high quality of economic advice provided to support policy decisions.
