Althea Ricketts Named President of Women in AV/IT (WAVIT)

  • she has over 30 years of experience in the audio electronics industry

 

WAVIT has also revealed its new Board of Directors, including Althea Ricketts, Vice President of Corporate Initiatives at Shure Incorporated, as its new President. With over 30 years of experience in the audio electronics industry, Althea has a strong background in sustainability, diversity and inclusion (DEI), global marketing, and sales.

She is also recognized for her dedication to mentorship and building industry development. “I’m honoured to lead WAVIT at such a pivotal time,” said Althea. “Our industry is ready for meaningful change, and WAVIT is a force for creating more equitable pathways for women in AV and IT. Together, we’ll continue amplifying the voices and visibility of women who are shaping the future of our industry.”

She is accompanied by Lex Evans, the Digital Signage Manager of the University of Southern California and incoming Vice President. Evans holds a customer experience design award recipient, Digital Signage Federation board member, and WAVIT Podcast co-host status. She is highly renowned for her campaigns championing accessible and inclusive technology solutions.

The board also welcomes Nikki Ault, VP of Client Services at Coffman Media, who has almost two decades of experience in client service leadership and customer experience strategy. Ault is a strong voice for women in client-facing technology positions and brings new energy to WAVIT's mission.

Remaining at the helm in their leadership positions are WAVIT co-founders and industry leaders: Brandy Alvarado-Miranda, BAM! Marketing & PR Agency CEO; Gina Sansivero, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications, AtlasIED; Susan Wilhite, Bluefin Senior Director of Business Development; and Carrie Garcia, YCD Multimedia US Business Development Manager.

WAVIT continues to develop its core initiatives, such as mentorship initiatives, leadership and speaking engagements, STEM outreach, industry collaborations, and resources to ensure safe and inclusive workplaces. The organization remains welcoming to members of all gender identities and invites anyone dedicated to equity in AV/IT to join the movement.
