The Diwaniya was organized by AmCham Kuwait and supported by CFA Society Kuwait, UIC and Boeing to provide a venue for improving Financial Literacy for Women through the Women in Business Focus Group.
The purpose of the session was to heighten awareness of Investment, at the same time develop Long-term Wealth Planning and Informed Financial Decisions.
The meeting provided an opportunity for Finance and Investment professionals to participate in a practical discussion around developing Women's participation in Capital Allocation and Economic Leadership.
The panel of speakers indicated that Financial Literacy is an important tool for improving Women's Economic Participation by allowing them to be More Informed about their Roles in Investment and Leadership.
Participants were encouraged to take an Active Role in Investment Decisions and Long-term Wealth Creation for their families and communities.
There was an emphasis on the need to go beyond a basic understanding of Finance to be involved in Financial Planning and Governance.
Among the speakers at the event was Arezou Harraf, Chair of Women in Business Focus Group, and Vice Chair of AmCham Kuwait, Aminah Abotalaf, Executive Director, of CFA Society-Kuwait; Sarah Dashti, Vice President of Equity & Fixed Income; Kamco Invest; Shaima Bin Hussain, Founder of She Invest; Fadwa Darwish, Secretary General, UIC; Sarah Maynard, Global Senior Head, CFA Institute.
Key topics discussed by these speakers ranged from investments fundamentals management allocation to giving practical advice to women entrepreneurs and emerging leaders, on how to gain confidence in both the financial markets and when making long-term plans.
Musaed Al Hawli, Managing Director of Boeing and a Board Member of AmCham Kuwait, commented on how important corporate support is to advancing financial education, emphasising initiatives involving financial literacy will create stronger communities and help to grow economies in a sustainable manner.
The organisation also states they will continue to partner with Financial Institutions, policymakers, and Private Sector Partners to promote Financial Awareness and participation of women in Investment and Governance.
