BC CICE to Invest $2.46M CAD in 5 Women-led Climate Tech Companies

• British Columbia (BC) Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy plans to invest $2.46 million CAD
• The investment is being made for five women-led climate tech companies
• It comes as a part of its first Women in Climate Tech Call for Innovation funding drive

A total of $2.46 million CAD is being invested by the British Columbia (BC) Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) in five women-led climate tech companies. This investment comes as a part of the firm’s first Women in Climate Tech Call for Innovation funding drive.

In addition, the recipients of the drive are primarily aimed at carbon removal as well as conversion. Agora Energy Technologies is now all set to turn CO2 into clean energy by fusing capture, purification and conversion as a single-step process which produces hydrogen along with ‘high-energy’ chemicals, both, that are used in batteries.

Meanwhile, EnviCore focuses on the conversion of industrial waste minerals into low-carbon cement whereas Gaia Refinery is aimed at easing carbon removal for industries that includes pulp and paper mills. Moreover, Seacork Studio will put efforts on turning seaweed into carbon-negative acoustic panels, specifically used for buildings.

Engrossed in hydrogen, Ayrton Energy is developing a technology that uses the existing gas storage infrastructure with an intent towards storing as well as transporting the cleaner fuel.
