Nintendo made the announcement that Doug Bowser, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, will retire in that position on December 31, 2025, after more than four years serving in the position.
Devon Pritchard, who is currently the Vice President of Revenue, Marketing, and Consumer Experience for the company, will take over for Bowser. The change in leadership will be effective as of December 31, 2025.
Furthermore, Satoru Shibata will join us as Chief Executive Officer, in addition to his current roles as Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director, after performing in these capacities over the previous six months. Satoru has been a member of the company since 1985 and has also served as President of Nintendo of Europe.
Doug began his career at Nintendo in 2015 as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales, later Senior Vice President in 2016.
In 2019, he became President and COO after Reggie Fils-Aimé's retirement. Reflecting on his tenure, Bowser described it as "the honour of a lifetime," and entrusted Pritchard with taking the company's next growth chapter.
Devon, who joined Nintendo in 2006, will become the company's first woman president. She has also held the title of Executive Vice President of Business Affairs and Publisher Relations.
She will assume her new position, join the Board of Directors of Nintendo of America, and serve as an Executive Officer for Nintendo Co. Ltd.
Devon said she was "humbled and excited" to take on the new role, thanking Bowser for mentoring her, and promising to carry on the company's tradition of entertaining and inspiring all gamers everywhere.
Nintendo President, Shuntaro Furukawa thanked Doug for his service, and his trust in Devon to lead the company, recognizing the number of years that she has been with the company, and she would have his commitment to continue Nintendo's goal of "putting smiles on the faces of everyone we touch."
