Artisanal food and craft products, including torreznos, honey, jams, olive oil, sweet wines, ceramics, natural cosmetics, jewelry, textiles, and other handmade goods, will be available directly from their creators during the International Day of Rural Women celebrations.
The Federation of Rural Women’s Associations (FADEMUR) is inviting the public to Salamanca on October 7 and 8 for the Great Women Entrepreneurs Fair. The event will showcase rural women’s businesses and give visitors an opportunity to discover their work and purchase products directly from the entrepreneurs.
From bottles of olive oil and jars of honey to ceramics and handmade jewelry, each product represents the work of women entrepreneurs building businesses and creating new opportunities in rural communities.
Key Highlights:
During these two days, it will be possible to explore and buy an extensive range of products produced or sold by rural women entrepreneurs from FADEMUR. Olive oil, torreznos, honey, sweet wines, jams, ceramics, jewelry and natural cosmetics, these are just some of the many activities that have been devised by women in rural communities and will be presented in the range. There will also be an exhibition of FADEMUR’s wool fulling mill (Batán de la lana).
The fair will be located in front of the assembly hall of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Salamanca. It will feature products, but also it will showcase the projects behind the product, provide visibility to the project, learn about the stories of the people driving the project, and highlight the talent, creativity and entrepreneurial capacity in rural areas.
The success of these initiatives means supporting women's professional and business projects in their local communities, stimulating local economies and establishing new opportunities in rural areas, which is the work of FADEMUR.
The Great Women Entrepreneurs Fair is a platform providing the chance to make exclusive purchases and give birth to the entrepreneurial women in rural areas.
“Behind every product there is a woman, a project and a commitment to continuing to build and sustain rural communities,” says FADEMUR.
For this reason, the organization invites the city's inhabitants and tourists to attend the fair to get to know the women behind the projects and their products.
The activity is the work prepared by FADEMUR in Salamanca to commemorate the International Day of Rural Women which falls on 15 October every year, this year with an extra significance due to the International Year of the Woman Farmer.
