The Global Business Women's Chamber of Commerce & Industry hosted a Business Networking Breakfast in Umhlanga on Wednesday, where women's financial empowerment, business leadership, and collaboration were among the highlighted key contributors to growth within the South African economy.

The event at the IBV Privé Lounge saw entrepreneurs, business leaders, financial institutions, and policymakers deliberate on concrete modalities of how to support women-led enterprises and ensure inclusiveness in economic participation.

The programme was opened by the President of GBWCCI, Fawzia Peer, who explained the mission of the chamber.

She said that chambers bring a sense of belonging, visibility, and recognition to their members, and that the organisation is committed to enabling women to develop business skills, access procurement opportunities, and earn sustainable incomes.

Among the participants was Nozibele Soguni, the founder and Managing Director of Nozibele Solutions, to talk through her journey and positive impacts this chamber has created on her personal and professional path.

She spoke fondly of the fact that early encouragement set her on a different path-one of developing confidence that changed her approach to business and growth. Soguni added that her business saw great progress in 2025 and encouraged other women entrepreneurs to join supporting networks.

The potential of women to drive innovation and development was emphasized by the CEO of IBV, Ashok Sewnarain. He added that women contribute economically and in ways that create opportunity and advance communities.

Ashok announced that IBV would also donate a corporate membership package for 12 members to the chamber, which would allow chamber members to utilize the space for events and networking over the course of a year.

This announcement gives additional support to GBWCCI to hold quarterly gatherings and to further its work to strengthen business opportunities and leadership pathways for women.
