A release by the Women’s Centre of Halton has indicated that the Light the Path 2025 fund-raising campaign has surpassed its original goal of raising $30,000.
The event was organized in partnership with Nancy Kohli Haté and Associates and Sotheby’s International Realty Canada, and the women-owned businesses within the Halton area.
"Light the Path" is centered on raising funds for survivors of invisible violence in order to enable them to access free counseling.
The campaign actually reached its target on December 10, 2025, which is the International Human Rights Day, thus emphasizing the significance of community-led efforts in dealing with violence and healing.
Among the results that have been realized as part of the campaign, the Women’s Centre of Halton has been able to provide access to the counseling services as well as reopen the store to provide families with choices over the holidays. This has been part of the efforts aimed at building support systems within the community.
Also involved in promoting this cause is Nancy, an entrepreneur and real estate broker for Sotheby’s International Realty Canada.
This is in line with her overall agenda, which is geared toward serving families and promoting sustained stability in the Halton and Toronto area.
Research by the Department of Justice, a government entity in Canada, has found: “Women who experience invisible violence are at a higher risk than their counterparts to experience problems with their mental health, such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.” Cost barriers to counseling continue to be a problem for many victims.
In recognition of growing demand, a local woman’s service, The Women’s Centre of Halton, has decided to continue their “Light the Path” awareness campaign until the end of 2025.
Established in 1989, the Women's Centre of Halton offers free confidential programs and services to women in crisis, transition, and distress. The group remains committed to its mission of ensuring the dignity, safety, and well-being of women through its supported services.
