New York, during the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in March 2025, Helen Huang, the co-founder and creative director of Gorgeous Beauty (GOB), was a featured speaker at a high-level side event. The World Madam Foundation, the African Renaissance and Diaspora Network (ARDN), and the Permanent Mission of Senegal to the UN co-hosted the event, which had as its title "Enhancing Global Women’s Leadership in Addressing Climate Change."
Global leaders from business, government, civil society, and the UN convened at the event to discuss ways to empower women in sustainable development and climate resilience. Huang's speech focused on the importance of somatic healing and emotional well-being in creating inclusive climate solutions.
Helen asserted that "true empowerment is structural, not symbolic." Women must be ready to lead the solutions and overcome challenges because they are on the front lines of climate change. We must build systems with empathy, understanding, and emotional intelligence if we want to ensure a sustainable future.
She advocates for wellness-focused, design-driven experiences that link beauty to emotional health and personal leadership through her work at GOB. Her vision is in line with the goals of the EmpowerHER Global Women's Forum and the World Madam Foundation, which promote the roles of women in public health, business, and policy.
In addition, the session emphasized the necessity of gender-inclusive climate policies and urged increased cross-sector cooperation to advance women into leadership positions in fields like community development, education, and technology. Helen remarked, "I'm honored to have joined this important conversation." "I'm thrilled to keep forming international alliances that promote a more humane and inclusive strategy for advancement."
