Hims & Hers Expands Juniper Into Women's Health in Australia

By: Global Woman Leader Team | Tuesday, 13 October 2026

Juniper, the Australian weight-loss platform acquired by Hims & Hers Health , will expand its women's health, adding menopause, hair loss treatments and medically supervised weight management.Eucalyptus for $1.6 billion. The move will expand Juniper's interests beyond weight loss, said Tim Doyle, senior vice-president international at Hims & Hers and a former chief executive of the company's founder, Eucalyptus.

“Juniper has always been a very weight-intensive and then a little bit menopausal,” Tim explained, and there was a need for a more holistic approach to women's health.

The new Hers platform will feature consultations and treatment programs in weight management, menopause and hair loss. For existing Juniper patients, their existing Australian treatment plan, practitioner and care team will be maintained; existing pricing and medication will be transferred to the new service.

Key Highlights

  • Hims & Hers Health expands Australian women’s healthcare services beyond weight management
  • Existing Juniper patients retain their practitioners, treatment plans and medications
  • New programs address menopause symptoms, hair loss and weight management

The weight-loss plan will include Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)-approved medications such as Wegovy and Mounjaro as appropriate. It costs $349 per month to start a program.

Tim acknowledged that some customers might be reluctant to move from a familiar Australian brand to an American one. However, he expects the transition to deliver overall benefits within one to two years. He also described the acquisition as an opportunity to strengthen the business’s capabilities and support growth.

Technology is another part of the expansion. Tim said, “Hims & Hers had recruited much of the applied artificial intelligence and engineering team from autonomous driving company Cruise to develop tools for health coaching and care management. Some of these tools are already being used in Australia”.

The company has launched an AI-backed care model in the U.S. that connects patients, healthcare teams and doctors in the app. The system de-references questions that need clinical expertise to a healthcare provider. However, the company cautions that AI-generated responses may contain errors and do not constitute a medical diagnosis.

Australian customers will receive a new Hers app as part of the transition. Questions remain about where Australian patients’ health data will be stored. Hims & Hers vice-president of product, international, Rebecca Holdt said, “the team would work with Juniper staff to ensure data remained securely stored in accordance with applicable laws”.

The expansion comes amid wider concerns about the safety of subscription-based telehealth services. Royal Australian College of General Practitioners president Michael Wright said services geared towards making money may come before patient safety. He emphasized the need for thorough evaluation and monitoring of weight-loss medications and menopausal hormone therapies.

Wright also cautioned that fragmented healthcare can result in unsuitable prescriptions when a patient’s medical history is not adequately considered. Hers said its practitioners conduct phone consultations before prescribing and can share consultation notes and treatment plans with a patient’s general practitioner, with consent.

Tim welcomed calls for clearer regulations governing digital healthcare, describing the sector as easy to enter without consistent oversight. He expects national telehealth standards to emerge within 12 months.

Hims & Hers has said it will focus its Australian communications on educating women about their symptoms rather than directly promoting prescription medicines, which are subject to advertising restrictions in Australia. The transition places greater emphasis on women’s health needs, while questions around clinical oversight, data protection and continuity of care remain important considerations.
