IoD Jersey, Mind the Gap Community, and MyAnova are proud to introduce a Gender Pay Gap Reporting Toolkit for directors and businesses employing more than 50 full-time staff, with support from Scotland's Close the Gap group.

The initiative is supported by the Government of Jersey and is designed to promote transparency and movement toward workplace gender equality.

The toolkit, which is free to download from the Jersey Business website, is intended to make it easier for employers to report and better understand their gender pay gap.

The Institute of Directors is a global business organisation that believes that gender pay gap reporting is an effective mechanism to further equality and ensures fair business practices.

The Mind the Gap Community was cofounded in March 2024 by Alex Ruddy, Chair of IoD Jersey, Kate Wright, and Lesley Mourant.

It brings together over 200 women business leaders and allies who support gender pay gap transparency.

The group believes that enhancing women’s workforce participation is an issue that benefits both business growth and the wider economy through reducing underutilization of talent.

The IoD said companies committed to gender equality stood to benefit from access to a wider talent pool, reduced turnover costs, and improved productivity as a consequence of better employee engagement and wellbeing.

Commenting on the launch, Alex Ruddy, Chair of IoD Jersey and cofounder of the Mind the Gap Community, said the toolkit addresses concerns from businesses about the cost and resources needed for reporting.

She expressed gratitude to the Close the Gap team in Scotland and acknowledged Lynn Cleary and Jenny Winspear for their roles in developing the toolkit and calculator.

While reporting a gender pay gap is still voluntary in Jersey, the Government has worked closely with the IoD Jersey and the Mind the Gap Community to encourage greater transparency among employers.

Chief Minister Deputy Lyndon Farnham said the toolkit gives directors a practical tool to promote gender equality and maximize the use of Jersey's workforce. He welcomed the partnership between government and business groups to develop a common reporting methodology.

Businesses that are using the toolkit should let the IoD know, as the IoD would like to monitor the success of the toolkits while also promoting the businesses on the Mind the Gap website with its overall support for gender equality.
