Kebbi First Lady Bestowed with Inspirational Leadership on Grassroots Development Award

Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris, The First Lady of Kebbi State was bestowed with the prestigious Inspirational Leadership on Grassroots Development Award at the 2025 International Women’s Day Conference held in Dakar, Senegal.

The distinguished event was themed “Accelerate Action: A Call to Ignite, Empower, and Engage African Women for Transformative Realities”. Women leaders, advocates, policymakers and other women of repute from across the African continent came together for the event with the objective of promoting the cause of women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The First Lady was given the recognition for her commendable contributions to grassroots development. A key flagship initiative run by her, the Nasara Women Development Foundation was under the spotlight for its contribution to empowering women. She has received praise both domestically and abroad for her efforts, which have improved the lives of women, children, and marginalized populations in Kebbi State.

Speaking at the event during her acceptance speech, the First Lady conveyed deep gratitude for the award. She dedicated the award to the resilient women of Kebbi State. She also encouraged African women leaders to stay dedicated to speeding up efforts for transformative change throughout the continent.

Reiterating her commitment to inclusive growth, Mrs. Idris promised ongoing support for initiatives and policies that advance women’s empowerment, sustainable development, and community resilience.
