  • NAWEM, a non-governmental organization, signed the MOU with BRICS Women's Business Alliance
  • A BRICS WBA Regional Office will be set up in Malaysia
  • This initiative seeks to foster greater cross-border cooperation among women entrepreneurs

Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) between The National Association of Women Entrepreneurs Malaysia and The BRICS Women Business Alliance (WBA) has created opportunity to establish a BRICS WBA Regional Office in Malaysia.

NAWEM will function as the primary partner for the BRICS WBA Regional Office in Malaysia and will assist in facilitating cross-border cooperation between female entrepreneurs

The Regional Office will increase the opportunity for female entrepreneurs from these five nations to gain access to foreign markets, share and exchange ideas, develop and maintain business associations with other members of BRICS.

NAWEM is enthusiastic about continuing a long-term relationship between them and encouraging female entrepreneurs' participation through collaborating.

Present at the signing of the MoU was Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor who attended the inaugural event from WE2025: Future in Motion hosted at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre where over 500 participants were present, including Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib Deputy Minister of Economy and Atifete Jahjaga Former President of Kosovo.

The document was exchanged between NAWEM deputy president Saliza Abdullah and Anna Nesterova, chairperson of the Russian Chapter of BRICS WBA.

NAWEM is the first multiracial women entrepreneurs association in Malaysia, founded in 1993. BRICS WBA was initiated during Russia’s BRICS chairship in 2020 to promote leadership and business collaboration among women.

The ceremony was held alongside the opening of WE2025, a three-day event featuring a leadership conference and trade exhibition
