Serco Promotes 2 Women to Key Senior Positions with ME Expansion

• Serco makes two senior promotions during Middle Eastern expansion
• Samantha Rowles named General Manager – UAE and Hana Abu Kharmeh named Chief Operating Officer – Shared Services
• The promotions are designed to enhance leadership and facilitate Serco's growth in the region

Serco has announced two senior promotions as it continues to grow in the Middle East. Samantha Rowles is promoted to General Manager – UAE in the United Arab Emirates and Hana Abu Kharmeh becomes Chief Operating Officer – Shared Services.

The promotions are to enhance leadership and underpin Serco's role as a leading partner to governments throughout the region.

Phil Malem, CEO of Serco Middle East and +impact, said the critical timing of the two appointments is significant because both these executives have consistently shown strong leadership, driving performance, innovation, and organizational impact.

The appointments come in the wake of Serco's most recent Gender Pay Review, where a 0.94 percent gender pay gap, a narrowing of 1.7 percent from last year, was recorded in favor of females, an indication of the company's dedication to fairness and inclusion in historically men-dominated industries.

Samantha will be charged with growing Serco's brand footprint in the Emirates, establishing local partnerships, and delivering intricate projects that have a positive impact on communities.

She has worked at Serco since 2020, a former Managing Director – Mobility & Emergency Services and was responsible for over 3,000 staff, as well as being executive sponsor for SercoInspire, the company’s female talent network.

Hana, who joined Serco in 2019, will have responsibility for shared services, including Technology, Transition, Human Resources, and Bidding, with a goal to enhance efficiency and deliver maximum value for partners across the region.

A Six Sigma Black Belt certified professional with more than 19 years of experience in the Middle East, Hana has contributed towards building local skills and driving a culture of development and inclusion.

Serco's strengths lie in service design and advisory, resourcing, complex program management, systems integration, case management, engineering, and asset and facilities management.
