A new trend has emerged in the international billionaire class with women’s economic power rising at a stronger pace than before. UBS released its 11th Billionaire Ambitions Report which concluded that wealthy women are not only keeping pace with men, but they are rising at a much faster rate than men. This trend has continued for the fourth consecutive year.
The report that surveys billionaires around the world, showcases a massive shift in trends. Benjamin Cavalli, who oversees strategic clients for UBS Global Wealth Management, explained that the billionaire landscape is increasingly becoming diverse and forward-looking. Numbers tell a similar story.
The average wealth for women grew by 8.4 percent in 2025, rising to $5.2 billion. On the contrary, men’s wealth growth rate stands at 3.2 percent, whose average wealth now is at $5.4 billion.
The world now has 2,545 male billionaires compared to 374 women. However, women seem to be amassing wealth at a faster rate over the past few years.
Earlier this year, Luana Lopes Lara, the 29-year-old co-founder of the prediction market Kalshi, emerged as the youngest self-made female billionaire globally. She becomes part of a group of over 300 women globally who have surpassed the ten-figure mark. At the pinnacle is Alice Walton, successor to the Walmart legacy, with an estimated $117 billion, making her the richest woman in the world and the 15th most affluent person globally.
Even then the wealthiest women are far from the high levels occupied by the richest men across the world. Some examples include Elon Musk’s estimated $500 billion fortune and Larry Ellison’s roughly $268 billion.
In total, the billionaires of the world now have control over $15.8 trillion, an increase from $14 trillion the previous year. Although the group is still predominantly male, the segment of billionaires that is expanding the quickest is made up of women — a change that is starting to alter the global wealth landscape, despite the significant gap to equality.
