The launch of the World Women Organisation Nigeria chapter in Lagos marked yet another significant moment in gender advocacy, with the organization presenting its global vision to support women in leadership, innovation, and economic participation.

The launch, with the theme “Collaboration for Empowerment,” drew together diplomats, political figures, development experts and women leaders, who said the launch, marked a significant milestone in the quest for women’s empowerment across Africa.

WWO Founder and President, Chief Rachel Akem-Harumi, said Nigeria had become an integral part of the organisation's mandate to help women raise their voices, break limiting structures, and more directly contribute to national development.

She introduced the Women Overload Initiative, WWO's flagship programme designed to train women in technology, AI, fundraising, project management, and leadership skills.

According to her, this was a way to ensure that women build sustainable businesses and are positioned to have a socio-economic impact. She called for everyone's efforts, saying WWO's work was part of a larger global movement.

Chibok Rotimi's reflected the way Amaechi, who was formerly Governor of Rivers State, saw the need to identify and resolve the internal barriers that continue to restrict progress in both Leadership and Politics.

Based on this philosophy, he decided on all the appointments and commissions for his administration. Furthermore, he indicated that should he become governor again and have the opportunity to make further appointments, that he would seek to maximize the number of females serving in these roles and that this would be at least partially based upon merit.

Dr. Siju Iluyomade, who served as the Convener of Arise Women, stated women need to intentionally prepare for leadership positions and that only by getting involved with the decisions being made by society can a society thrive.

She encouraged women to invest time and money in self-development and really understand the value of collaboration and the need to build their capacity.

Yan Yuqing, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, presented a global view and agreed with everyone in the room that China has and will support the advancement of women's rights globally; particularly with its partner countries, which include countries like Nigeria. She stated women represent a significant portion of China's work force, they are leading rounds of start-ups and most recently won Olympic medals in China; and most important of all, she provided an overview of the numerous humanitarian initiatives being undertaken in Nigeria by their Chinese counterparts.

With entry into Nigeria, WWO is bringing the country into a network of 67 nations working collectively on the advancement of women’s involvement in governance, entrepreneurship, technology and social development.

The organization is also getting ready to launch the introduction of the World Women Economic Order in Dubai next year.
