YW Calgary to Host Summit for City's Female-Led Businesses

• The event seeks to create community, facilitate networking, and provide access to resources for women entrepreneurs

YW Calgary is hosting its second Women Entrepreneurial Summit on Wednesday with the intention of supporting community and connection for women-owned businesses in Calgary.

The event is taking place at YW's Inglewood site and is intended to coincide with Small Business Week, with around 160 women expected.

Kailey Armstrong, Director of Economic Prosperity at YW Calgary, explained that the summit provides a space for women to connect, build their network, and share information about their businesses.

She went on to say that after increasing capacity, the summit sold out again this year, which indicates there is a clear demand for such an event and entrepreneurial opportunity in Calgary.

Attendees will hear from keynote speakers from the Business Development Bank of Canada; a panel of entrepreneurs sharing their experiences and successes; and other exhibitors and partners.

Kailey emphasized that supporting women's economic growth is a long-standing focus at YW Calgary, and the organization is expanding its reach and impact, particularly in entrepreneurship.

The summit is also intended to create space to network and access business support, emphasize the importance of small businesses in Calgary and across Canada, and opportunity to discuss barriers women face in grow businesses.
