Women leaders in Mexico have become increasingly pivotal, spanning innovation and efficiency to organisational change. The value-added by the manufacturing sector in Mexico is estimated to reach $133.03 billion by 2025, and grow at 1.48 percent per annum until 2029. The country's substantial investment in key sectors, such as automotive and electronics, also means it is now a significant part of the global supply chain for these products. However, in the past twenty years, the number of female leaders in the industry has changed the culture and the focus of the industry.
These leaders possess a distinctive combination of strategic vision, technical knowledge, and management that focuses on people. They have made strides toward a more diverse workforce, compliance with international standards, and sustainable practices. Many embraced initiatives that incorporate advanced technologies such as automation, robotics, and digitalization, allowing Mexico to compete in global supply chain management.
In addition to striving for operational excellence, women in leadership positions have also played a significant role in advancing gender equity in their workplaces. They support and mentor younger workers, create workplaces that actively embrace inclusion, and advocate for policies that support work-life balance. Their leadership has challenged stereotypes and paved the way for more women to consider careers in the manufacturing and engineering sectors. Additionally, women leading large, complex teams and production systems, as well as driving the growth of exports, contribute not only to their companies’ success but also to the country’s economic development, particularly in Mexico. The women highlighted here demonstrate how gender diversity in leadership positions facilitates innovation, resiliency, and global competitiveness in manufacturing. Moreover, their increasing presence depicts change and transitions toward a more inclusive and vibrant industrial landscape for Mexico.
