Take us through the formative years of your life. What were some key early influences in life that shaped you as an individual?
At 52, life has gifted me the profound roles of a mother to three and a grandmother to a one-year-old grandson, thus family remains the cornerstone of my existence. Rooted in a household that upheld values, particularly a steadfast work ethic, I was shaped by an environment that prioritized integrity and perseverance. My academic path led me from school to university, where my fascination with human behaviour guided me toward degrees in psychology and industrial relations. With time, a clear realization emerged, that my passion lay in uplifting others, fostering growth, and helping individuals unlock their true potential.
How did your academic journey at the University of Sydney shape your personal and professional growth?
My fascination with human behaviour steered my aspirations early on, drawing me toward a career centered on people. Law once seemed like the ideal path, yet falling short of the required mark by just two points redirected my journey. While the setback felt crushing, it ultimately led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, an unexpected but profoundly fitting choice.
Studying psychology and industrial relations at the University of Sydney proved transformative, offering more than just academic rigor. Immersed in a dynamic environment, I engaged with individuals from diverse backgrounds, broadening my worldview and forging invaluable connections. Post-university, travel became my greatest teacher, deepening my appreciation for cultural diversity, human connection, and the nuances of spirituality. The exposure to different belief systems and ways of life left a lasting imprint. Reflecting on my academic years, I recognize them as the bedrock of both my personal and professional evolution.
What inspired the establishment of Inner Peace Getaways, and what are its core areas of expertise?
Inner Peace Getaways was born from the realization that true peace comes from within, yet we often seek external solutions to our struggles. When feeling lost or unhappy, we tend to distract ourselves, diving into work, seeking validation, or even turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms, hoping the outside world will provide answers. But the real transformation happens when we pause, reflect, and look inward.
My journey in my midforties was the catalyst for this venture. I believed success, a high-paying job, and longer hours would bring fulfillment, yet I found myself burnt out. It was only through meditation, self-reflection, yoga, and holistic practices that I gained clarity. Inner Peace Getaways is built on this foundation, helping others reconnect with themselves, embrace self-care, and find their own inner peace through mindful, holistic approaches.
What are the key challenges you face in your current role, and how do you navigate them to find effective solutions?
One of the biggest challenges I face is attracting the right people, those who are problem-aware, solutionfocused, and ready to commit to their journey while understanding the value of the service. Many individuals recognize their struggles but either lack the financial means, time, or willingness to take accountability for real change. Initially, I opened my business to a broad audience, believing they were my ideal clients, only to realize many were not truly ready to invest in themselves. This led to wasted time and energy. Over time, I refined my approach, ensuring I attract individuals who align with my offerings.

Another challenge is the 24/7 nature of my work. Running retreats requires early mornings, yoga, and aqua classes, and catering to diverse participants, including those with severe mental health concerns. Ensuring inclusivity while being mindful that not every person is the right fit for my business remains a continuous balancing act.
What are the key milestones in your professional journey, and what defines your success mantra as a leader?
Without a doubt, my biggest achievement has been helping people. When individuals attend my retreats and later tell me that I’ve changed their lives, that is everything. I feel incredibly fortunate to have received heartfelt testimonials from people who had never met me before but walked away transformed. Hearing 'You have changed my life' is the most rewarding experience. If I can positively impact even one person’s life, then I know I am fulfilling my purpose on this earth. That, to me, is true success.
