Tell us about the formative years and key influences of your life.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and Master’s in Engineering Management. Pursuing a degree in engineering ingrained in me the ability to approach challenges and situations with objectivity, breaking them into smaller parts for more clarity and solving them methodically.

My mother was the most influential force in my life. Her intelligence, generosity, and wit fostered the early seeds of purposeful leadership in me. Her steadfast belief in my abilities empowered me to explore different interests as she also supported every pivot without hesitation.

Tell us about your professional journey and the key areas of expertise have you developed over the years?

Being an engineer has always been my calling. Early on, I got the opportunity to work on civil and geotechnical projects that built lasting community infrastructure. As sustainable designs gained momentum in California in late 2000s, I made a conscious decision to transition towards green building. That passion led me to explore MIT’s collaboration with the Abu Dhabi government to establish a university in a pioneering sustainable city powered entirely by renewable energy. I have earned proficiency through being a licensed engineer, certified Project Professional (PMP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and am LEED accredited.

Following my Master’s degree, I worked in the UAE with The Neutral Group, advising global firms on sustainable supply chain strategies across the Middle East and Asia. This became my window to enhance experiences that sharpened my insight into efficiency and global operations. In 2016, I returned to Toronto and joined CLEAResult Canada.

Introduce us to CLEAResult Canada. What responsibilities do you shoulder as the Senior Director of Commercial & Industrial Energy Programs?

As one of Canada’s leading energy efficiency imple­menters, CLEAResult Canada partners with utilities and government agencies to design and deliver pro­grams that achieve measurable reductions in energy use – supporting homes, businesses, and communities across every sector.

As Senior Director of Commercial & Industrial Energy Programs, I oversee a team of nearly 100 engineers and technical experts who support major energy users across Canada. Together, we develop and deliver tailored retrofit solutions that drive measurable savings and demand reductions.

My focus is on aligning teams, reinforcing strategy, and ensuring we remain unified around a clear sense of purpose.

What challenges do you encounter your current role and how do you overcome them effectively?

The energy landscape is on a continuous transitional shift. Canada’s commitment to net-zero by 2050 is fueling widespread electrification across homes, industries, and transportation. The rise of DERs is transforming grid dynamics, pushing utilities to balance new load patterns with cost and infrastructure limits. I prioritize technical knowledge, regulatory insights, and customer understanding to create strategic alliance with focus on client challenges.

I focus on understanding and aligning with emerging technologies, regulatory trends, and market dynamics. Simultaneously, I also investing in team development, collaboration, and client-centric innovation.

How do you see emerging technologies shaping the future of energy management and sustainability?

With technological advancements taking shape rapidly, progress continues whether through DERMS platforms, advanced building envelope solutions, or incremental equipment efficiencies, the real transformation lies in integration. People are more conscious than ever of exploring better, integrated options rather than settling for the same.

In new construction, energy efficiency is being built in from the ground up. The new norm is shifting towards advances in building automation, virtual assessments, and strategic energy management. As we transition toward a more decentralized and flexible grid, the end user is becoming an active participant in the energy ecosystem. Sweeping changes like policy reforms, regulatory alignment, targeted investment, and innovation is the need of the hour.

Looking back, which professional milestones are you most proud of? What is your ‘success mantra’?

My professional path has seen several achievements and most of them go beyond titles or promotions. From building community infrastructure to guiding clients through difficult situations, I have always sought work that benefits people in tangible ways. I have intentionally shaped my career to create real, visible, and meaningful impact.

My approach to success has always been guid­ed by curiosity. I am drawn to challenging roles that allow me to invest my time and energy into things that help me find my purpose. I encourage oth­ers to keep an open mind, embrace what intrigues you, and add each experience to make your own story.
