Logistics is a business of movement, but its profitability is determined by decisions that happen behind that movement - how capital is allocated, costs are controlled, risks are assessed, operations are scaled, and financial resources are converted into dependable service. This makes the CFO increasingly central to the logistics enterprise. Beyond managing accounts and protecting margins, the modern logistics CFO must understand operations, anticipate risk, support technology-led efficiencies, and ensure that growth remains financially sustainable in an industry where timing, fuel and operating costs, customer commitments, and supply-chain disruptions can quickly affect performance.
Bringing this broader perspective to the role is Ugochi Rose Amadi-Emina, Co-Founder and CFO of Sinaro Group. Her career reflects a deliberate progression across accounting, banking, consulting, corporate treasury, and entrepreneurship. She began with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from one of Nigeria’s leading private universities, before relocating to the U.S. in 2017. She went on to earn an MBA in Finance from the University of Georgia and a CPA qualification, strengthening an already finance-focused professional foundation.
At Sinaro Logistics, Ugochi Rose Amadi-Emina has moved from advising on business value through a purely financial lens to helping shape it from within. As CFO, she oversees finance while contributing to broader business decisions, bringing together financial discipline, operational understanding, and entrepreneurial thinking. Her journey positions her to view the CFO role not as a back-office function, but as a strategic force in building a stronger, more resilient logistics business.
What leadership philosophy and core professional values have consistently guided your decision-making while building high-performing teams and driving organizational excellence?
I believe leadership begins with service. Numbers are important, but people ultimately drive business performance. My approach is therefore centered on taking care of employees, listening to them, and creating an environment where they can perform at their best. We follow a bottom-up approach and conduct quarterly surveys to understand what is working and where we need to improve. Service, excellence, and integrity are the values that guide me. In logistics, our clients trust us with products that can be extremely important, including medical supplies. When we take care of our people, they take ownership and responsibility and in return take care of our customers.
How do you see the industry evolving amid digital transformation, supply chain resilience, sustainability initiatives, and changing global trade dynamics, and how is Sinaro Logistics positioning itself to capitalize on these emerging opportunities?
Technology, particularly AI, is fundamentally changing logistics. It is giving businesses access to data and insights that can improve efficiency, strengthen profitability, and uncover new opportunities. At Sinaro Logistics, we are embracing these technologies while ensuring our employees understand how to use them effectively. Tasks that previously took several hours can now be completed in significantly less time. Technology has also improved our operational visibility, allowing us to monitor employees, deliveries, and routes in real time. For me, digital transformation is not simply about adopting technology; it is about using it intelligently to improve productivity, responsiveness, and customer experience.
As Co-Founder and CFO, how do you align financial strategy, operational efficiency, risk management, and long-term business growth to support Sinaro Logistics' expansion while delivering sustainable value to customers and stakeholders?
I do not view finance as a function that operates independently from the rest of the business. As CFO, I consider financial decisions alongside business strategy, operational efficiency, capital allocation, risk management, and long-term growth. Before making a decision, I look beyond its immediate impact on the bottom line and ask whether it aligns with our values, strengthens operations, and supports our employees. Strong governance, effective internal controls, and disciplined risk management are also essential. My approach is holistic because sustainable value comes from balancing financial discipline with operational excellence, employee wellbeing, sound governance, and the company's long-term strategic objectives.
My Approach Is Centered On Taking Care Of Employees, Listening To Them, And Creating An Environment Where They Can Perform At Their Best
Could you share one of the most significant leadership challenges you have faced during your career, and how it strengthened your approach to strategic decision-making and organizational resilience?
One of my defining leadership challenges was leaving the corporate world to join my husband in building our family business. Entrepreneurship required me to move beyond the boundaries of a traditional CFO role. Although finance remains my core responsibility, I sometimes contribute across operations, risk management, and other areas of the business. That experience taught me to look at the organization as an interconnected whole rather than focusing on one function. It strengthened my ability to make broader decisions and reinforced the importance of thoughtful planning, financial discipline, innovation, technology, and continuous learning. I have learned that resilience comes from remaining adaptable while maintaining strategic discipline.
Looking ahead, what is your long-term vision for your leadership journey, and how do you aspire to contribute to the future of the freight logistics industry while inspiring more women to pursue leadership roles in global business?
My long-term vision goes beyond growing the bottom line. I want to create meaningful impact for people while building an organization grounded in innovation, financial stewardship, and inclusive leadership. I am equally passionate about increasing women's representation at executive and boardroom levels. Through initiatives such as Inspire Atlanta and the executive women's group at the Cobb Chamber, I have had opportunities to support and encourage women pursuing leadership. As a Nigerian-born woman, CPA, entrepreneur, and finance leader, I hope my journey demonstrates that where you begin does not determine where you can go. If my story inspires even one woman to believe she belongs in the room, that would be a meaningful accomplishment for me.
