By: Rachita Sharma, Managing Editor | Friday, 18 April 2025

Women form the backbone of any society. As primary caregivers, homemakers, family heads and voice of reason, women nurture communities and families alike. But this role often hinders their own economic, emotional and social development. In order for any society to function at its most efficient form, all stakeholders must be provided with equal opportunity and resources to fulfil their potential. This key bridge is missing in several nations today, forming the very basis of the gender divide.

The North African nation of Tunisia is no different. With women being an integral part of communities and families, they find themselves underrepresented in business, politics and other key aspects of life. As a result, the nation faces challenges such as gender bias, gender pay gap, lack of women’s access to healthcare & education etc.

These issues don’t just impact individual women’s lives but also pull the nation’s economic progress back. But women have been known to strive for women’s empowerment and women in Tunisia have been no different.
