The largest exhibition and sale event for women entrepreneurs in Georgia took place on 13–14 September in Expo Georgia, attracting over 200 female business owners from the country.
Already in its fourth edition, the exhibition was organized by UN Women in partnership with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and the European Union.
The celebration had a wide variety of products, including food and wine and beverages to handicrafts, decorations, accessories, toys, and cosmetics.
The participants also comprised various groups of marginalized individuals, such as women survivors of gender-based violence, inhabitants of high-mountain population, and refugees from Ukraine. Specific emphasis in the festival this time was laid on eco-friendly and recyclable products.
Spaces accommodating families were offered, with educational and recreational activities for children, as well as areas to eat and listen to music, so the exhibition was both a bazaar and social event.
Participants at the senior level included Belen Sanz Luque, UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia; Nicolas Sendrowicz, Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to Georgia; Bergljot Hovland, Ambassador of Norway to Georgia; and Alkis Vryenios Drakinos, Regional Director Caucasus, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
There was also panel discussion on financial inclusion that highlighted the role of banks and microfinance institutions in enhancing the access of women to economic opportunities.
The production was implemented under the UN Women project "Good Governance for Gender Equality in Georgia" supported by the Government of Norway.
Apart from NORAD and the EU, the performance was also arranged in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Asian Development Bank (ADB), GIZ, TBC Bank, Crystal Microfinance, MBC Microfinance, Georgian Farmers' Association, Business and Technology University, and Expo Georgia.
