The Abu Dhabi Business Women Council took part in the Global Forum of Women Leaders, which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. The agenda was opened by H.E. Rosen Zhelyazkov, Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
The forum gathered more than 200 women leaders from the business arena, together with decision-makers and representatives from international organisations.
The agenda was organised around Women’s leadership in a fast-changing world, and the program addressed the changing role of women in the economy, technology, and in digital transformation and artificial intelligence in response to the fast changes in the world that calls for new and effective leadership.
H.E. Asma Al Fahim Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council in her keynote speech, Skills and Leadership for the future, highlighted the enormous contribution women’s leadership makes to addressing global issues.
She noted the role of women in technology and artificial intelligence, and addressing inclusive and sustainable economic development.
“Women in decision making can bring more holistic and longer lasting solutions and add strengths that advance progress and wellbeing of society.”
In her remarks Asma also talked about the rapid change that is defining the future of work and the requirement for leadership models based on Agility, Innovation and the Readiness for changes associated with Digital Transformation and AI.
She stated the ongoing importance of life-long learning, as well as, increasing the number of women in leadership positions to inspire transformation and forge partnerships across sectors.
Throughout the event, H.E. Marwa Abdullah Al Mansoori, Board Member of the Council and Abu Dhabi Chamber, attended several meetings with H.E. Al Fahim, all organized with support from the UAE Embassy in Bulgaria.
The meetings showcased the initiatives of the Council, discussed opportunities for collaboration, and addressed topics related to innovation, technology, finance, banking and women entrepreneurship with a variety of leaders.
Sofia Tech Park, UniCredit Bulbank, Ministry of Innovation and Growth, Artex Engineering, and the Bulgarian Center of Women in Technology all participated in these meetings.
The Global Women Leaders Forum is an international forum initiated by the Council of Women in Business in Bulgaria to serve as a meeting place once every two years with the purpose of creating discussion and a mechanism for cooperation and collaboration regarding women's empowerment issues.
