The Tory Burch Foundation held its Founders Breakfast at The Pierre, spotlighting influential leaders, entrepreneurs and creative for women who are making a mark across industries. The event held prior to Fashion Week has become one of the most important platforms that recognizes the innovation, resilience, and leadership qualities of women entrepreneurs.
This year's Iconic Founder is Anna Wintour, honored for her tremendous impact on fashion and media across the world. As the Chief Content Officer of Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director of Vogue magazine, Anna has set new directions for the entire fashion industry over decades and played a major part in mentoring talent and growing the industry.
The event also spotlighted three successful women entrepreneurs who managed to grow their business through the Foundation’s Fellows program. They included Viola Sutanto, the founder of Maika; Andrea Seymour, the co-founder, and CEO of Springdale Custom Builders; and Pilar Guzman, the founder of Half Moon Empanadas.
In addition, Jennifer Pitt received the Founder’s Award, honoring the legacy of her grandmother, Olive Ann Beech, a pioneering figure in aviation and business leadership.
During the open conversation that took place on stage, Anna spoke about leadership, mentoring, and talent nurturing. Recounting her rich experience in running events like the Met Gala, she noted that having professional expertise, maintaining focus, and being oneself were vital for success. Moreover, Anna talked about the benefits of being a mentor for youngsters and how she enjoys having a global leadership position.
The event ended with guests walking away motivated, enlightened with knowledge about leadership, and how women play an increasingly important part in shaping the future of businesses.
