Aysha Al Haram Named Co-Chair for SSPI-WISE East

Aysha Al Haram, Chief of the Satellite Design Department at the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), has joined as co-chair of the newly established "SSPI-WISE East" regional group under the international Space & Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) program, Women in Space Engagement (WISE). The appointment reflects Bahrain's growing influence in the global space sector.

Aysha is the first Arab woman to take up a top leadership position in the SSPI-WISE initiative, which is committed to enhancing the role of women and youth in the international space and satellite industry. As she takes up the new position, she will be engaging to empower women in the space sector within the Middle East and Asia, looking specifically at the increasing role of the rising markets in determining the future of the sector.

She vowed to support STEM learning, create technical and leadership initiatives, and build regional networks to empower engineers, researchers, and Arab women working in the field of space. This achievement is testimony to global acknowledgment of Bahraini women's high-tech expertise and confirms BSA leadership in the field of space.

BSA CEO Dr Mohamed Ebrahim Al Aseeri welcomed Aysha, describing her appointment as a great leap towards empowering Arab women and positioning Bahrain higher globally in the field of space.
