BWC Tawi-Tawi Trains Women Entrepreneurs in Finance Skills

The Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) in Tawi-Tawi conducted financial management training for members of women's organizations on August 3 to help strengthen the sustainability of their livelihood ventures.

The training focused on enhancing the financial literacy and organizational capabilities of women-led groups that had previously received livelihood support from the Commission. Addressing the participants, Commissioner Ranisa J. Ejinnajar highlighted the importance of financial management in building sustainable businesses.

She emphasized that maintaining proper financial records and making informed financial decisions are essential to ensuring that government assistance leads to lasting economic empowerment for women.

“Today’s training is not merely knowledge—it is a tool for sustainability, growth, and lasting success. Rooted in our mandate for women’s economic empowerment, we encourage every one of you to apply what you learn, manage your resources with care, and build businesses that sustain your families and communities,” Ranisa said.

“May this training guide you toward becoming confident, successful entrepreneurs who stand strong and independent,” she added.

Ifrad D. Hussin, trade industry development specialist, Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT)-Tawi-Tawi served as a resource speaker, who conducted training on basic bookkeeping, budgeting, financial planning and enterprise management.

Hussin stressed the importance of practical tools that would help women entrepreneurs in effectively managing their livelihood projects, and gave emphasis on halal business, healthy competition and innovation.

The features included an interactive activity called the BEST Game, which helped educate people about the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, savings and teamwork.

BWC also assisted with their accreditation at the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE) while promoting accountable leadership within the women's organizations through the election of their officers as part of the process.

The Commission also handed out financial ledgers and tarpaulins to the participants for proper accounting, product promotion and branding. The BWC Tawi-Tawi reiterated its intention to continue to foster the capacities of women organizations with the aim of creating financial independence for women, good governance and inclusive economic growth in the province.

The training is delivered as a contribution to Bangsamoro Women Commission's continuing program in building the capacity of Bangsamoron women to overcome financial literacy, organizational development and entrepreneurial capacity of their livelihood enterprises.

The Commission aims to provide women beneficiaries the skills to effectively manage their businesses, to grow their income generation activities, and to build economic resilience through regular capacity building programs.

The Commission is working towards establishing more sustainable and self-reliant female entrepreneurs in Tawi-Tawi through financial education and institutional support. The initiative also demonstrates its wider vision of supporting women's economic involvement, enhancing community-based businesses and inclusive and sustainable development in the Bangsamoro region.
