China, Pakistan Explore New Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs

An interactive session was organized between H.E. Sun Yan, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore, and the Gujranwala Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GWCCI) at GIFT University, focusing on enhancing women involvement in the business sector. The interactive session was conducted with the support of the Gujranwala Business Alliance (GBA) and Diplomatic Insight Group as an effort to create new ways of cooperation between the mentioned parties.

A need for creating new avenues for increased involvement of women entrepreneurs in the field of trade, technology, entrepreneurship and skill development was at the core of the meeting. The discussion revolved around creating channels through which women can grow their business operations and take advantage of new opportunities in technology and international trade.

The visit allowed diplomats and business leaders to discuss ways of making an environment that would be conducive to women’s businesses. H.E. Sun Yan was welcomed warmly by GWCCI President Yasmeen Dawood, Founding Patrons Ahmad Lone and Muhammad Anwar Dar, and other officials of the chamber of commerce.

The conversations also stressed that institutional connections should be created between Pakistan and China to open up new avenues of knowledge transfer, market access, capacity building, and international cooperation for women entrepreneurs.

It was also noted that GWCCI will play an important part in all activities of the BRI Excellence Centre. Through the connection with this organization, female entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to see different possibilities in various areas allowing skills development and broaden experience in business operations and management.

The engagement highlighted mutual dedication toward ensuring that women entrepreneurs play an active part in the growing economic partnership between Pakistan and China. Through the expansion of channels of cooperation, learning, and accessing the market, this engagement aims at allowing women-owned enterprises to be able to take part in the economic partnerships.

Institutional collaboration will play a vital role in enabling women-led ventures strengthen and expand their presence in new markets, build international networks, share knowledge, and establish partnerships that support sustainable business growth.

The move comes amid a period when both Pakistan and China are increasingly active in economic engagements and are looking for new ways of collaboration in different areas including trade, investment, technology, education, and people-to-people interactions. Increased attention towards these spheres reflects the immense possibilities that exist in terms of creating economic and knowledge-based linkages.

Linkages created through increased interactions among business communities will help Pakistani entrepreneurs in expanding their business operations through market entry into foreign markets, networking, and investments. Interactions with Chinese counterparts can also help in transferring knowledge and forming partnerships and collaborations.
