A Scottish banker, Dame Debbie Crosbie, has been unveiled as the Women in Finance Champion for the UK Government, an endeavor that will help women assume senior roles within the financial services industry.
She replaces Aviva’s Dame Amanda Blanc, who served as Women in Finance Champion for five years and ensured that senior women representation rose from 32 percent to 36 percent among about 440 organizations.
It is an unpaid role and a direct ministerial appointment, answering solely to the Economic Secretary to the Treasury.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves welcomed the Women in Finance Charter and praised it as an excellent method for encouraging young women and girls to have ambitious careers, and thanked Dame Amanda for her contribution and welcomed Dame.
Dame, who formerly worked as a senior executive at Clydesdale Bank and as a senior manager at TSB bank, emphasized that women's success within business acts as an inspiration for generations to come and helps drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
She commends the role of the Charter and wishes to carry on with the excellent progress made by her predecessor and with support from the government.
Dame broke records as the first woman CEO at Nationwide in June 2022 and received a Dame Commander of the British Empire honor in June 2025 for her services within the financial industry.
