The woman who will receive the Trailblazer Award this year for her achievements is Donna Langley, Chair of NBCUniversal Entertainment.
Donna's work has inspired countless others around the globe to develop different ways of telling stories through entertainment, making her a major supporter for all kinds of storytellers everywhere.
She has also been on the board of directors at Vital Voices and has mentored some of its members, and she was made a dame by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2020.
Both Tracy Chou, who founded and leads Block Party, and Seyi Akiwowo, a women's right's advocate, will receive Vital Voices Global Leadership Awards this year, while they will also receive the Second Susan Wojcicki Tech for Impact Award.
The Susan Tech for Impact Award honors and acknowledges women entrepreneurs using technology to solve some of the world's greatest problems.
Tracy is recognized for pushing for accountability and transparency in the Tech industry, while Seyi is recognized for her commitment to empowering women and girls through Glitch (a nonprofit), which she founded and runs.
On the 23rd of April at the Perelman Performing Arts Center, the awards ceremony will take place with marketing executive and entrepreneur Bozoma Saint John as host. Also scheduled to make a special appearance is Hillary Rodham Clinton, co-founder of Vital Voices.
The Global Leadership Awards is Vital Voices’ annual fundraising initiative. Its goal is to accomplish the organisation’s mission of discovering, investing in, and promoting female leaders globally.
Vital Voices President and CEO Alyse Nelson stated that this year’s awardees demonstrate the type of leadership that creates long-term social and economic change.
Other this year’s awardees include Susie Wolff, who will receive the Icon Award for her efforts in promoting increased participation by women in motor racing and women's participation in motorsport currently, Building on the success of her work on the W Series and much more nationally and globally, motorsport has not been able to have as many female drivers as rugby, tennis and NASA/Aerospace had.
Shirin Musa, the founder of Femmes for Freedom, will be recognised for her fight against forced and honour-based violence.
Environmental activist Farwiza Farhan will receive an award for her efforts in conserving the environment through community participation and conservation methods in Indonesia's Leuser Ecosystem.
According to Vital Voices, the purpose of the Global Leadership Awards is to shed light on the impact of female leaders globally and promote their accomplishments throughout various professions.
