Are Media has announced that Jane Huxley is stepping down from her position as Chief Executive Officer. She will be replaced by the company’s Director of Content, Sally Eagle.

Jane was at the helm of Are Media for five years. During her tenure, Are Media continued to build on its transformation into a multi-platform content company.

The company also refined its portfolio of brands, focusing on serving women and lifestyle audiences. The company also concentrated on delivering improved stability and efficiency across print, digital, social, and live events.

In a message sent to all employees, Are Media’s chairman, Ben Hawter, stated, “Jane Huxley has been at the helm of Are Media for five years, during which time we have navigated a period of significant change. We have strengthened our position in the market in Australia and New Zealand, and expanded our footprint across a range of content channels.”

Significant events under Janes’s tenure included the acquisition of the company’s distribution platform, now called Are Direct. This ensured greater distribution certainty for the company and the wider publishing industry.

The company also rationalized its brands to improve the clarity of its strategy. Moreover, investments were made in systems infrastructure, digital platforms, and the capabilities of the workforce.

Ms. Eagle has been part of the Are Media team for 16 years and has held various senior positions within the company. She has been responsible for the content strategy for the last three years.

Prior to this, she was the customer director and had responsibility for the food and book divisions. Earlier in her tenure at the company, she had a finance role before moving to the publishing leadership.

Ms. Eagle has experience in content, commercial operations, customer engagement, and people leadership, according to the company’s board. This appointment is part of the company’s strategy to promote from within as it enters the next phase.

The board recognized Jane’s contribution to the organization and expressed its confidence in Eagle and the executive team.
