In a move to drive inclusive economic growth, Ghana has introduced the bold new National Business Agenda (NBA), aimed at transforming the entrepreneurial ecosystem and eliminating systemic barriers for youth and women-led ventures, launched at a high-level event in Accra, the initiative represents a ground-breaking collaboration between government bodies, business associations, civil society organizations, and international stakeholders.
With leadership from Ghana Chamber of Young entrepreneurs and strategic support from the ICR Facility, the NBA emerges as a policy-driven outcome of months-long stakeholder engagement, targeting the structural obstacles that limit inclusive business growth.
Drawing from extensive consultations and a data-driven gap assessment, the NBA framework prioritizes five strategic reform areas-policy and regulatory environment, financing access, market connectivity, infrastructure and digital tools, and comprehensive enterprise support mechanisms. The official unveiling of the NBA by GEA CEO Margaret Magoo represents a pivotal step toward institutionalizing public-private partnership to shape a more inclusive and responsive entrepreneurship landscape.
Describing it as a paradigm shift in collaborative development, Nii Doodo, Country Director of the British Council, stated that NBA represents a model anchored in data, responsive to local realities, and strengthened by joint stakeholder commitment.
“This is not a wish list. It is a well-researched action-focused blueprint that captures what young and women entrepreneurs have consistently called for,” said Sherif Shali, CEO of GCYE, during the launch.
“This is more than a document- it is a tool to accelerate inclusion, expand opportunities, and guide national enterprise support,” Margaret declared. “The GEA is committed to supporting the implementation of this agenda, especially in underserved regions where entrepreneurship is the strongest pathway to prosperity.”
