On Tuesday, the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Supply's Secretary-General Dana Al-Zoubi stated that empowering female workers in the industrial sector is a key priority at the national level and an essential contributor towards continued economic development that is both inclusive and sustainable.
In her remarks made on International Women's Day, Al-Zoubi noted that Jordanian women have emerged as an important force for change around all aspects related to industrial transformation and innovation, ranging from production lines to executive leadership positions. She further noted that continued support of equal opportunity is necessary in order to continue increasing female participation in the workforce.
According to Al-Zoubi, Jordan continues to take steps to enhance women's empowerment both legislatively and professionally — in terms of providing technical skills or financial support; as well as by integrating women-owned businesses into global supply chains while increasing women-owned businesses' access to markets; and increasing female representation in key decision-making positions.
Secretary-General Al-Zoubi called for Jordanian women to further pursue involvement in the industrial sector through education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and reiterated the importance of the government's role as an advocate for excellence and leadership in that area.
