Karen Stewart - an entrepreneur and business strategist - joins USask’s Board of Governors as a member appointed by the government to provide guidance on long-term financial and administrative direction, oversight of strategic priorities and university resource allocation – according to an announcement from Saskatoon.
Karen is a USask alumna with over 30 years of experience in financial services, mediation, and venture capital. Her experience includes building and scaling businesses along with initiatives that support innovation and women entrepreneurs.
In addition, she founded Fairway Divorce Solutions – a national alternative to traditional divorce litigation.
She also created Milestone Asset Management, where she managed more than $250 million worth of assets with multiple teams. Finally, Karen Stewart founded Bumble Bees Venture Capital to provide mission-driven businesses access to early-stage capital.
Karen attended USask and earned a Bachelor of Science in Consumer Studies and Chemistry (1986) and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing (1988).
In addition, she has been on the Dean's Advisory Council for Edwards School of Business for several years.
Her professional and personal connections to Saskatchewan include operating a franchise in Saskatchewan and being actively involved in the USask community.
