LSH Auto, with the Women of the Year Awards, held a sold-out networking reception at Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham that hosted 150 guests for an evening honoring 'Women in Sport'. The evening included a motivational panel of top athletes and sports industry experts, chaired by Yvonne Harrison, CEO of Women in Football.
The conversation featured contributions from retired Lionesses Jill Scott MBE and Lindsay Johnson, golfer and sports broadcaster Sophie Walker, and Olympic taekwondo medalist Bianca Cook (née Walkden). These talented individuals looked back on their most proud moments, the development in their sport, adversity they've faced, and provided inspiring insights into leadership and resilience.
Jill Scott emphasized her pivotal contribution to England's UEFA Women's EURO 2022 success, and Lindsay Johnson described representing England in elite tournaments. Sophie Walker discussed a decade of playing on the Ladies European Tour and her move into broadcasting, and Bianca Cook talked about becoming the first woman to win all four Grand Prix events in one season in taekwondo.
Tracy Ellam, Operations Director at LSH Auto, was proud to be supporting the event and highlighted the need to promote female role models, citing that diversity drives innovation and collective achievement. In its 43rd year, the Women of the Year Awards—backed by sponsors such as Aldermore Bank, Freeths, Pertemps, Strategi Solutions, and LSH Auto—remains committed to celebrating outstanding women from industries. Nominations have opened for the awards of the year, which will name their winners in Manchester's Etihad Stadium on October 10.
Emma Elston MBE, Patron of the Awards and Founder of Miss Money Savvy, commended LSH Auto on building such a motivating and empowering environment where there was standout energy in the room. The event, also supported by Miss Money Savvy, highlighted the lessons that the business community can pick up from the commitment and leadership of women in sport.
