FinTech entrepreneur Mia Drennan will represent the UK at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year event in May 2026 in Monaco. She was selected after her recent win at the UK final of the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year programme.
Mia was among the 11 UK finalists selected by an independent judging panel, recognized for their leadership, commitment to innovation and contribution to the UK economy. She also secured the London Region award.
She has reshaped global debt administration by building the world's largest independent loan agency and trustee services provider.
The judges pointed out her success in expanding GLAS across 10 countries, 12 cities, and four continents, developing a leading independent platform responsible for more than $700bn in assets under administration.
The 2024 EY Superscalers report says that Drennan is one of only 80 women in the UK who have built a business which has broken through the £50m barrier. Under her leadership, GLAS has grown to more than 450 employees worldwide and works with major law firms, financial institutions and corporates across global capital markets.
Mia reflected on the recognition by saying: “It’s been an extraordinary journey building GLAS into the global business it is today, with many ups, downs, and glass ceilings broken along the way. I am incredibly proud to be named EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the UK in recognition of this“.
This award is testament not only to the past 15 years of hard work but also to the exceptional team we have built around the world. Together, we have created a business with entrepreneurship embedded in its DNA, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has played a part in this achievement.
The 2025 UK final also recognized a further four regional winners Owen Coyle and Michael Sweeney of Union Technical Services – Scotland Region winner, Clare Roberts of Kids Planet Day Nurseries – North Region winner, Gill Pearson of Newberry International Produce - Midlands Region winner, Simmy Dhillon of Simmer South Region winner.
Special congratulations went to Scott Monks at Rocksteady Music School and Somayeh Taheri, the founder of UrbanChain. The other finalists included James O'Loan and Ricardo Laverty from Chemist4U, founder Helen Cannon of ISON Travel, and Eugene Tsyrklevich, the founder and CEO of Parkopedia.
