By: GWL Team | Tuesday, 24 June 2025

  • Minjee Lee took her third major at the 2025 Women's PGA Championship, three strokes clear.
  • She is now in the same company as Karrie Webb and Jan Stephenson as the lone Australian women to have three major titles.

Minjee Lee just became golf history in the most consistent manner possible. In the 2025 Women's PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas, the 29-year-old Australian golfer won her third major on Sunday, three strokes clear of her nearest pursuers. Lee remained patient and composed despite windy and sweltering conditions. The victory also places her in exclusive company with two all-time great Australian players.

Four shots clear to begin the final round of the Women's PGA Championship on June 23, 2025, at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas, over the weekend golfers battled ferocious winds and sweltering heat. Lee emerged victorious by three shots even though she closed the final round at 2-over 74.

Her total score at the end of the contest was four under. Two other individuals finished under par: American golfer Auston Kim and Thai golfer Chanettee Wannasaen. Minjee’s steady play maintained her lead through three bogeys on the front nine.

She never allowed her lead to dip below two strokes for the last 18 holes. Minjee’s 11th win on the LPGA Tour was her first since the BMW Ladies Championship in 2023. Her three major titles place her alongside Karrie Webb and Jan Stephenson as the only Australian woman to do so. Stephenson won three too; Webb has seven.

Moreover, Minjee said to the reporters, after the round, stating, “It feels pretty amazing. I feel like I really deserve this one. I put a lot of hard work into it. Some of the drives that I hit were really terrible out there, but I was able to get up and down, make bogey, and not fall apart.”

Minjee’s playing partner Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand, world No. 2, tied for fourth. She made a habit of checking the leaderboard regularly and used the information to stay focused. She said, "I knew the 14th and 15th holes would be birdie chances, therefore my primary target was staying patient.”

She was drenched in champagne following her last putt. Fellow Australian and previous PGA Championship victor Hannah Green was among the celebrants. Furthermore, Hannah said, “She's come close in many majors before. I'm super proud. She really earned this win.” Minjee Lee also took home $1.8 million from a record $12 million prize fund. She is only two victories short of a career grand slam.
