Women in Mining Nigeria (WIMIN) is gearing up for its upcoming Gold and Gemstone Conference and Exhibition. Keeping in mind its reach and impact, the event is set to take place from 26-28 November 2025 in Lagos.
The conference is now a top African spot championing responsible sourcing, traceability, and sustainable mining practices. Serving as a catalyst for empowerment and industry transformation, the event will foster collaboration, promote empowerment, and accelerate local value creation within the sector.
The event is expanding footprint across five African countries; Egypt, Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, and Nigeria, bringing together leaders for exhibitions, plenary sessions, and masterclasses. This year’s milestone event will empower participation from government bodies, development partners, and the private sector, with hopes of further strengthening Nigeria’s position as a hub for gemstone excellence.
Adesuwa Dan-Princewill, Chairperson of the conference’s planning committee, “This event is about showing the world that Nigeria can mine, design, and produce world-class jewellery,” she said. “We must stop exporting raw gemstones for little value and start transforming them locally.” At the ceremony for Miss Universe Nigeria 2025, she emphasized WIMIN’s dedication and advancement in empowering women in mining through skilled skill-building and inclusive opportunities.
Bringing in a creative dimension, the event will host a Jewellery Fashion Runway and Gala Night, including a competition designed to spotlight new designers. The winners stand a chance to get advice and seen around the world, giving their skills and careers a global boost.
