SARA by Wema Award Grants to Nigerian Women Business Owners

  • Wema Bank’s women's offering SARA by Wema awards a total of ₦2 million to three women business owner.
  • The grants were provided during the SheCan 6.0 Conference.

 

During the SheCan 6.0 Conference, three female business owners have been awarded a total of ₦2 million in grants for their businesses by SARA by Wema, the women's offering by Wema Bank.

The winners of the grant includes Bolat Paints Founder CEO Omobolaji Shittu who took home the grand prize award of ₦1 million; Royal Bags’ Abisola Opeyemi; and Blessed Flow Cup Founder Blessed Godspower-Okitikpi, both of whom took home ₦500,000 to develop their businesses.

Wema Bank MD/CEO Moruf Oseni reported that the importance of the bank towards women businesses is totally intentional. Adding to his remarks, he also said that empowering women results in successful families and a stronger economy.

In a statement, he said, “Over the years, we have empowered thousands of entrepreneurs through access to finance, capacity development, and strategic partnerships, and we have seen firsthand how these investments change lives. Our focus on women-owned businesses is deliberate because we know that when women succeed, families thrive, communities flourish, and the economy is strengthened.”

In addition, the bank was founded in the year 1945, now headquartered in Lagon with specialities in Digital Banking, Retail Banking, SME Banking, Corporate Banking, Digital Finance and Innovation. It offers business advisory services and financial inclusion to women through their programme SARA by Wema, at various life stages and business.

Moreover, the SheCan Conference is a prime business and community platform that has been motivating over 26,000 women since its inception. The session in 2025 had over 15,000 women attend with panel discussions of personal development, business expansion, and family-work life balance.
