  • This new program recognizes and celebrates the contributions of women in the horticulture industry
  • It also showcases the women leading Canada’s horticulture industry

Fruit and Vegetable and Greenhouse Canada magazines have announced the initiation of “She Grows”, a national project that showcases the efforts of women who are helping to build the future of the Canadian horticultural industry.

The project is aimed at celebrating women from the sector, who could be involved in the greenhouse industry or the production of field crops. It looks at the efforts that the women have put in, including the challenges that they have faced.

In light of the fact that the year 2026 is the International Year of the Woman Farmer, the project was initiated by the United Nations.

According to Amy Kouniakis, the editor at Greenhouse Canada, the project is in recognition of the efforts put in by women who are helping to improve production, innovation, and the overall business in the agricultural industry.

Jill Filmer, the Fruit& Vegetable editor, added that the project is also a great platform where women growers get a chance to share their stories and help others who would be joining the industry in the future.
