Sofia Miagkikh, an international fashion model, made a major announcement during Haute Couture Week in Paris: she is launching a platform for women's empowerment in the Gulf Region.

According to Sofia, there is currently a growing crisis for young women around the world. There has never been so much visibility for women in business, the media and the creative industries; however, the number of young women inspired to follow in their footsteps remains very small.

"There is a record amount of women being seen in business, the media and the creative industries and exactly as many young women looking for role models who match their ambitiousness and cultural identity," she explained.

Sofia has a large social media following and has built a strong reputation as an advisor providing practical advice about confidence, mindset, presentation, and self-discipline.

Much of her audience is located in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, where many women want to be able to take advantage of the opportunities available today, while also adhering to conservative values.

According to Sofia, a practical and culturally relevant approach is the most effective way to empower people, and therefore her platform is based upon this.

She has proven her international fashion credentials even at her young age by establishing herself through editorial placements in Vogue Thailand, ELLE Greece and Gala France, as well as collaborating with luxury brands like Armani, Bvlgari and Ferragamo.

She feels strongly that these experiences have played a major role in her commitment to helping other women, especially young women, find their place in public life, pursue their ambitions and define their identities with confidence and dignity.

“I learned from fashion that you don’t put on confidence, you build it,” said Sofia. She hopes that young women from the Gulf will see that they can expand their potential, have their presence felt and pursue their dreams without sacrificing their principles.

As part of this effort, she is working with a network of global and regional stakeholders to develop new opportunities for women around the world, including such influential women as Princess Reema Al Saud and Sheikha Al Mayassa Al Thani.

In launching the platform, Sofia started working with different media channels to amplify her voice and start a larger movement. She will connect thought leaders in a variety of industries through events and international collaborations that provide women with access to positive role models, develop their skills and create an impact on the world they want to see while remaining authentic to their values and beliefs.
