The UEFA Women's Euro 2025 in Switzerland is now a history-making event after it broke a new attendance record of 657,291 fans for the whole tournament. This beats the previous record of 574,875 fans in the 2022 tournament in England.

The last meeting of Spain and England at St. Jakob-Park in Basel drew an attendance of 34,203, the competition's largest single-match crowd and fourth-largest overall in Women's Euro history. England captured their second-consecutive Women's Euro championship by winning against Spain 3-1 in a penalty shootout.

Average attendance was over 20,000 per game for the first time in the tournament's history, and 29 of the 31 games were sold out. The quarter-final stage alone had 112,535 fans attending, which was the highest-attended quarter-final tournament history. The Spain–Switzerland quarter-final match in Bern had 29,734 in attendance, while the Germany–France match in Basel had 34,128 — highest quarter-final attendance non-host country.

Fan participation was worldwide, with an estimated 35 percent of tickets purchased by international fans from more than 160 nationalities. There were over 95,000 fans taking part in pre-match fan walks, with 20,000 in Bern before the Spain–Switzerland game.

The competition used venues across Basel, Bern, Geneva, Zurich, St. Gallen, Lucerne, Thun, and Sion to emphasize the national support of the tournament.

The competition was hailed by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin as a turning point for women's football with record crowd, first-class media coverage, and growing international interest. "This is just the beginning," he insisted, supporting UEFA's ongoing commitment to developing the game.

Nadine Kessler, UEFA's women's football director, was also impressed with the event and stated it exceeded all expectations. "This tournament has set a new benchmark and remains our North Star for an ambitious future".

Ahead of time, UEFA has revealed that Women's Euro 2029 is going to be hosted by Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden. Final bids should be submitted by August 28, and the host nation would be revealed in December. UEFA Women's Euro 2025 has not just set records — it has entrenched the increasing success of women's football in Europe and across the world.
