Veenoo Sharma, entrepreneur and investor based in Edinburgh, was appointed as an Advisor to the Commonwealth Businesswomen's Network (CBWN) on Diaspora Entrepreneurship as well as becoming Co-Chair of the India-Pakistan Initiative at the CBWN.
In this capacity, Veenoo will assist CBWN with its mandate to support women entrepreneurs around the world.
Veenoo was brought up in Edinburgh and has worked professionally in law, investment banking, property development and entrepreneurism.
Through her new role, she will provide assistance to CBWN in their goals of developing support networks for entrepreneurship by diaspora members, improving access to financing and leadership for women entrepreneurs and enhancing collaboration globally, with a focus on women-led enterprises.
In addition to her CBWN roles, Veenoo announced the launch of The Power Diaspora Forum, a global network aimed at connecting women leaders in business, politics, investment, media and culture.
The forum aims to develop better access to funds, leadership pathways and mentorship for women on the diaspora, especially within the UK, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and South Asia.
The forum will address the gaps in funding and support for women-led businesses and will commence with its inaugural gathering in February 2026, where diaspora leaders, entrepreneurs and investors will come together and create a list of priorities aimed at enhancing funding and support provided to women-led businesses on a long-term basis.
