Women in Sustainability Africa Summit to Launch in Ghana on May 1, 2025

  • Exploration of the summit’s theme ‘‘The Role of Women as Sources of Labor and Agents of Sustainability,’ will be under discussion 
  • It highlights the impact of women in shaping workforce development across Africa 

 

Industry leaders to convene for the Women in Sustainability Africa Summit on May 1st 2025. The summit will be held at Wesley Towers, Ridge, Accra, Ghana, Starting at 8:30 a.m. This inaugural summit will explore the theme: ‘The Role of Women as Source of Labour and Agents of Sustainability.’ It highlights the critical contributions of women to workforce development and sustainable progress across Africa.  

Organized by Women in Sustainability Africa (WiSA), the programme is delivered in partnership with national ministries and influential networks committed to gender equity and sustainability, including the Ministries of Gender, Labor, and Climate Change, as well as the League of Extraordinary Women Network and EIB Network.  

The event will feature high-level participation from prominent figures such as H.E. Jewel Taylor – former Vice President of Liberia, alongside key Ghanaian ministers Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Rashid Pelpuo, and Issifu Seidu, as well as sustainability advocate Nana Yaa Sarpong. 

Celebrating 26 years of excellence in the media industry, Nana Yaa Serwaa Sarpong is the General Manager of EIB Network. According to Nana, the organization’s strategy includes building strong alliances with diverse stakeholders, including male champions, grassroots organizations, civil society, and global partners, to drive unified action on the Sustainable Development Goals across Africa. She also adds that through principled leadership, are vital to this mission and can guide the world toward a more equitable and sustainable future.  

In her closing remarks, Nana emphasized the importance of collective action, starting that true inclusion requires collaboration between both men and women. “We call on our male allies to stand with women—because united, we drive impact; divided, we lose momentum,” she concluded.
